IWC Schaffhausen doesn't get the street-level recognition it deserves — and that's a shame, because few houses combine heritage and craft as quietly or as consistently. Founded in 1868 on the banks of the Rhine, IWC has spent over 150 years making watches that reward closer inspection. The Portugieser Chronograph is one of their finest expressions: a large, elegant case, a clean white dial with gold hands, and those distinctive blue subsidiary seconds that give the whole thing a warmth you don't expect until you see it in person. Playful enough for the weekend. Composed enough for a suit.
This example presents in very good condition throughout. The dial and case are excellent. The brown leather strap shows some signs of wear — honest use, nothing more — and can easily be swapped for something fresh if preferred. It comes without box or papers, which keeps the entry point accessible without taking anything away from the watch itself.
Watches like this have a bit disappeared from daily life, and I find that genuinely unfortunate. This is a proper piece — historically grounded, beautifully made, and still entirely within reach. More interesting and better built than almost anything you'll find at a regular jeweller.
